Frequently Asked Questions
How does counseling work?
There is no magic wand in therapy. What you put into therapy, you’ll get out of it. Our job is to partner with you to help you make changes in your life. Deciding to go to therapy takes a lot of courage, and requires a lot of work! If you want to build new muscles, you need the discipline of going to the gym regularly, experiencing the strain of tearing down old muscles in order to form new stronger ones. Similarly, going to therapy is like tearing down old emotional muscles, breaking through knots & tension, and rebuilding new patterns and emotional strength.
How long does counseling take?
The length of therapy depends on a variety of factors, including the client’s goals, the needs of the clients, the model of therapy, and resources available. Most clients are in therapy for anywhere between 3-6 months, though many stay for longer.
Do you see children and teens?
Yes! We have two fully stocked play therapy rooms to create a more comfortable and engaging environment for your child. Our therapists are trained to work with children through play and how to connect with your teenager.
What does it mean that this is a Christian counseling center?
All of CPCC staff members are Christians representing various denominations and church communities. Clients absolutely do not need to be Christians to seek counseling at CPCC. The integration of faith into the counseling process is completely up to the client. Some clients enjoy weaving their faith into their counseling process and some clients prefer not to. Whatever your faith background or spirituality, we encourage you to talk with your therapist about if, or how, you would like to include your faith in your healing journey.
What are your fees?
Our fees range from $80-$185, depending on the training level and experience of your therapist. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify and apply.
Do you take insurance?
We are an out of network provider, meaning that we are not included in any HMO or PPO mental health plans. If you are interested in using your mental health coverage, contact your insurance provider for details. You can request monthly statements from your CPCC therapist to use to submit for reimbursement from insurance. Please note that some insurance providers will not reimburse for trainees or interns, so be sure to confirm the specifics with your carrier before you begin. CPCC accepts health spending account (HSA) cards.
